Stool 2

Oak stool

plan2.png

A simple stool made from European Oak inspired by the simplicity and aesthetics of Japanese bathing stools.

A self imposed design restraint to produce a functional piece of furniture using offcuts from a friend’s workshop that would usually be burnt. The final product can easily be cut from a single plank of Oak with little wastage, small off-cuts are used to make doweling pegs.

Pieces were finished in a number of ways from water based varnish and beeswax to being cerused with liming wax and sealed.

The ability to lengthen the stool without compromising its form or strength gives it the ability to form a small bench or hallway table.

I am currently developing a version that can be supplied flat packed and easily assembled.

Please email for current purchasing inventory list.

Beauty in natural elements

Knot holes and unique qualities in the wood can be embraced to enhance the individuality of each piece while maintaining minimal material waste.
